Day 3 (yup skipped a day!)

At the end of Day one, I had the worst migraine I’ve ever had in my life! I went to bed at 7:00 and didn’t wake back up until my alarm went off at 4:30 the next morning. I decided to take a break from juicing yesterday to see if that helped. It did! So, today I’ve decided to use the juice as a supplement instead. I’m eating regularly, but juicing as a snack to do two things. First, to increase my fruit and veggie intake. And second, to hopefully get fuller and not eat as much. Let’s see how this goes…..

Today’s morning juice is pretty tasty!

The Red Racer – This one will be a great treat for those sweet tooth’s out there like me.  Consumption of these berries will reduce your cravings for the unhealthy sweets.  Or so that is what I find with me.

  • 1 Cup raspberries
  • 1 Cup Strawberries
  • 2 Oranges
  • 2 Apples

Using electric juice extractor, press all ingredients in the juicer. Whisk to combine.

Here’s to a good day, despite the rain and thunder!!

Juicing Day One, part 2

After unpacking only 5 boxes today but feeling like I unpacked 50, I was starving. I knew a juice wouldn’t work, it wouldn’t satisfy my hunger. (Guess I really needed a Snickers!) So, I had a bowl with cut up cucumbers and tomatoes with a dash of salt and a drop of Italian Dressing. Only cheating a little here…

For the afternoon hunger before the dinner hunger begins and before the boys get home and start eating and make me want to eat too, I made another juice.

Apple Green Grape – Simply delicious!  These flavors were made to be together.  The combination of grapes and apples is one of my favorites.  When you were a kid, what was your favorite color Kool-Aid?

  • 3 Granny Smith apples, quartered and cored
  • 1 Cup seedless green grapes
  • 1 Thin wedge lemon, peeled

Using electric juice extractor, press apples, grapes and lemon. Whisk to combine.

I used Gala apples, since the kids eat the Granny Smith and I was running low on them already. (Even tho I just went to the store yesterday) and I added a few pieces of ice at the end. Simply delicious. Maybe a dash of cinnamon next time, and it will have an apple pie taste to it.

Let the rush of the afternoon/evening festivities begin. I am ready!

Let the juicing begin….. (again!)

So this week will be just a one week thing, the boys are out of school next week and there is no way I will be able to resist the temptation of eating bad for you things while we are out exploring! I decided to try juicing again because my energy level is non existent! I have about 15 boxes left from the move and a garage full of crap to be organized. I need motivation. We have cable for the first time in over 2 years and I just want to sit on my butt all day and do nothing. This can’t be a good combination! So join me this week while I try all new juicing recipes and let you know whether you should try them or not!

Here we go………

This morning’s juice is kind of a cheating juice, since really it’s a smoothie, and it has more in it than just fruits or veggies. But, it looked good and has good for you ingredients, so in the name of journalism, I will try it.

Green Monster Spinach Smoothie:

1 frozen sliced banana

1 Tablespoon peanut butter

1/2 cup 0% Vanilla Chobani Greek yogurt

1 cup Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Breeze (or other kind of milk)

4 cups baby spinach (or more, or less)

Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Can we say yum? I can see drinking this more than one time. Some of those other juices I tried the last time I made sure to keep those recipes in a never again unless I’m dying and need nutrients category. But this one is a keeper for sure. I am just about done with it, so I’d better get going, those boxes aren’t going to unpack themselves. Wish I had friends here, I could have an unpacking party!!
